MERCIER, Monique (nee Galarneau) – It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts we announce the passing of Monique at the Hamilton General Hospital on Monday June 17, 2024 at the age of 78. Beloved wife and best friend of Leo of 54 years. Cherished mother of Steve (Jennifer) Mercier and Carl (Manon) Mercier. Loving grandmother of Jordan, Jeremy (Kayla Parent) and Adrien Mercier. Predeceased by her parents, Adrien and Fernande (nee Germain) Galarneau, siblings Rejean Galarneau and Helene (Daniel Gauvreau). Monique and Leo shared what people would describe as a perfect marriage, they were an example of what a marriage should be; loving, caring and devoted. For Monique, her family was her greatest treasure. Her children describe her as the most loving, amazing, perfect mother – and, she would do anything for them. As well, she was proud of her French heritage and was an amazing cook – among her specialties were her sugar pies, meat pies and crepes, a testament to her heritage. Cremation has taken place.
