New TV Installed

NEW TV NOW INSTALLED

As you will see we have a new 86” large screen TV in our community Hall.  This TV replaces the smaller 60” TV that was previously there.

The Communications Committee was originally exploring the option of updating the projector in our hall. We thought that with a new machine with higher lumen values we could overcome the need to make the hall dark enough to have a decent picture.

A couple of local A/V companies were contacted for their input and pricing on a new projector. After showing them pictures of our hall and seeing the placement of the system, both companies said the same thing. ‘You would be better off with an 86” flat screen TV’. They both felt that because of the placement and lighting we might not get that much better picture quality unless we went with a very high-end projector (the prices for these usually began averaging around $10,000) Also going the way of the TV would still leave us with the projector and screen when this method is preferrable, giving us the best of both worlds. The bulb in the projector and using it in ECO mode should give us several more years of use in its present state.

Going the route of a larger flat screen TV instead of updating the projector would enable us to have Movie Nights, Sports Specials, events like our Trivia Night could happen without the need to have the front half of the hall dimly lit, or indeed unlit This will be very beneficial for our Annual General Meetings, we will be able to keep the lights on in the hall, see the presentation, and no more trying to take notes in semi-darkness, etc.

We would also be able to offer video presentations at events such as Celebrations of Life, again, without the hall being quite dark.  Luckily, we were able to find an 86” TV on sale and it has now been installed for your enjoyment. The future use of the 60” TV will be at the BCHOA Board’s discretion.
