Obituary for Bernadette Tierney

In Loving Memory

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Bernadette (Bernie) Tierney (Nee: McGuirk). Nana, GiGi, Aunty and friend to so many, Bernie rejoined her late husband, Hugh (November 24, 1945 to March 14, 1995), on Sunday, July 10, 2022, in Ft. Erie, Ontario. She leaves behind her daughter, Brenda and son, Hughie.  Grandson Liam and his family, Laurissa, Jailyn and Nolan, Grandson Matthew and his family, Natalie and Alexandria, Grandaughter, Kayla, and her children, Jasmine and Jack, will miss the strength and joy they found in their Nana and GiGi. Bernie has numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland, England and Canada.

Born in Dublin, Ireland on March 19, 1945, Bernie is predeceased by her siblings Christopher, May, Peg, Matt, James, and Dermot and survived by Pauline, Bella and Charlie. She shared the last 16 years of her life with her partner, Robert (Bob) Glen, who continues to reside in Ft Erie while facing health issues of his own.

Bernie was very active and a cherished member of her community at Black Creek, always available for friendship either with a helping hand or a reason to laugh. Her sense of humour and sharp wit was quite fondly known. She latched on to any cause that came her way with enthusiasm and vigor. Her love of crafts and her undeniable skills gave her the opportunity to provide and contribute to many charities and needs. Her presence and involvement will be dearly missed by her numerous neighbours.

Bernies Family wishes to thank the staff at Niagara Health System Douglas Memorial Site and in particular, Dr Scher, for their incredible compassion and genuine care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Northern Reach Rescue Network or Niagara Health Foundation, Douglas Memorial Site would be appreciated by the family.
