With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vernon S. (Pete) Bennett, July 22, at the age of 86, in Niagara Falls Hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1939, to Layton and Esther (Snyder) Bennett of Sinnamahoning, Pa. He was the last of their nine children. He retired from Keystone Powdered Metal Plant in St Mary’s, Pa. He also enjoyed many years of performing with numerous bands, playing guitar and singing. After a stroke, he was still able to enjoy singing in various country jam sessions in Ft. Myers, Fl., and Ft. Erie/Niagara Region. He was married to Doris Andregg (deceased). He was father to Benjamin (Candy) Bennett, Bryan (deceased), and Brenda Brucker (Thomas). He was grandfather to Shawn, Ryan (Andrea), Kyle, Brianna (Maria), and Bryce. He was a great grandfather to Aaron, Bella, and Brody. Pete also remarried, in 2001, to Ursula V. He was a step dad to Andrea Stewart (deceased), Christian Stewart, (Carolyn) and grandsons, Michael and Jason (Brittany).
He will be remembered for his humour and love of family. We thank all of the caregivers of Maple Park Lodge. Cremation has occurred and a Mass will be held at 10 a.m. St. Joseph’s Church, in Snyder, (Stevensville, Ontario), August 2, burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Celebration of life will be held at St. Joseph’s hall after 10 a.m. Mass and burial.
